Etiquettes and Supplications for Daily Practices
Supplication when repaying one's debt:
When one repays his debt to the creditor, he should say:
بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ
(May Allah Almighty bless your family and your wealth).
Supplication and remembrance during a calamity or loss:
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي، وَاخْلُفْ لِي بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا
(Indeed, we belong to Allah Almighty, and indeed to Him we shall return. O Allah Almighty, reward me in my affliction and replace it for me with something better).
When a Muslim fears an enemy, a ruler, or a government, he should say:
اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِيهِمْ بِمَا شِئْتَ
(O Allah Almighty, protect me from them in whatever way You will).
When a Muslim is afflicted by satanic whispers:
The Messenger of Allah Almighty (May Allah Almighty bless him and give him peace) said: “Satan comes to one of you and says, ‘Who created this? Who created that?’ until he says, ‘Who created your Lord?’ When he reaches that, seek refuge in Allah Almighty and stop (the thought).”
In another narration: “Let him say:
آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
(I believe in Allah Almighty and His Messengers).”
Supplication for seeking rain (Istisqā’):
...اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
(O Allah Almighty, send rain upon us! O Allah Almighty, send rain upon us! O Allah Almighty, send rain upon us!)
Supplication when there is excessive rainfall:
اللَّهُمَّ صَیِّبًا نَافِعًا
(O Allah Almighty, make it a beneficial rain).
اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَیْنَا، وَلاَ عَلَیْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الآکَامِ وَالجِبَالِ وَالآجَامِ وَالظِّرَابِ وَالأَوْدِیَهِ وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ
(O Allah Almighty, around us and not upon us; O Allah Almighty, send it on the hills, mountains, valleys, and places where trees grow).
Supplication for someone who does a good deed for you:
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
(May Allah Almighty reward you with goodness).
When a Muslim becomes angry or enraged, he should say:
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيم
(I seek refuge with Allah Almighty from the accursed devil — from his evil, plots, and whispers).
When a task becomes difficult or hard for a Muslim, he should say:
اللهم لا سَهْلَ إلا ما جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً وَأنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ اِنْ شِئْتَ سَهْلاً
(O Allah Almighty, there is nothing easy except what You make easy, and You make difficulty easy if You will).
When something pleases a Muslim and brings him joy, he should say:
Mother of the Believers ‘Aishah (may Allah Almighty be pleased with her) said: When the Messenger of Allah Almighty (May Allah Almighty bless him and give him peace) saw something he liked that made him happy, he would say:
(الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي بِنِعْمَتِهِ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِحَاتُ)
(All praise is for Allah Almighty, by whose grace good deeds are completed).
And when he saw something he disliked, he would say:
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ
(All praise is for Allah Almighty in every circumstance).
