Supplications and Deeds
Forgiveness of Sins
Abu Hurairah (may Allah Almighty be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (may Allah Almighty bless him and give him peace) said: "Whoever says 'Subhan Allah Almighty wa bihamdihi' one hundred times a day, his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea." (Bukhari and Muslim)
Supplication for Sleeplessness
It is narrated from Ali bin Harb bin Muhammad al-Tai that Sufyan told us from Ayyub, from Muhammad bin Hibban, that Khalid (may Allah Almighty be pleased with him) used to stay awake at night. He complained to the Prophet (may Allah Almighty bless him and give him peace) about his sleeplessness, so the Prophet advised him to seek refuge with these words:
"I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah Almighty from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the whisperings of the devils and their presence." (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi)
Supplication for Fear in Dreams
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah Almighty be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (may Allah Almighty bless him and give him peace) said: "When any of you is frightened in his sleep, let him say: 'A‘udhu bikalimatillahi al-tammati min ghadabihi wa ‘iqabihi wa sharri ‘ibadihi wa min hamazatish-shayatin wa an yahdurun' — I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah Almighty from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His servants, from the whisperings of the devils, and from their presence. It will not harm him."
Abdullah bin Amr used to teach this supplication to his children who had reached maturity, and for those who had not, he would write it down on a paper and hang it around their necks.
Imam Tirmidhi said: "This is a Hasan Gharib (good but rare) hadith."
